Why did I get sucked into this one?

Okay, so I knew it was going to happen when I started. People had warned me, told me to be prepared, but I didn't listen. I thought I was strong enough, I thought it couldn't happen to me, but it did. What you say happened? I watched another chick flick with my wife....and...PREPARE YOURSELF...I cried. Okay so yeah those of you who know me know that I am a sentimental sucker anyway, but I swore it wouldn't happen again. Okay so I like dramas just as much as I like action/adventure and comedy (which you all know is my favorite). The movie we watched was "The notebook." If you haven't seen it, I recommend it.I don't agree with everything in the movie and the way things are portrayed, but there was one thing that stood out and it just hit me like a brick. (DON'T READ ON IF YOU DON'T WANT THE PLOT LINE SPOILED) What is it? Well it is the fact that true love...I say TRUE LOVE stands the test of time. I cried becuase when I looked at the relationship they had through the movie, I thought, I can only hope to love my wife as much as this character did...moving into a nursing home, just so he can read their story to her over and over again. I don't know what the Lord has in store for Megan and I's lives together, but what a great example of the vows I took on August 16th, 2003. I love my wife and I want to have that same commitment to her that was shown in the movie. On another note, I thought about my relationship with Christ. You know he never gives up on us, He is right there beside us calling us to Him. He loves us so much that He died for US, man how awesome. TRUE LOVE goes beyond the surface and shows sacrifice and commitment. So okay, I cried, but I cried for a good reason this time. Living the adventure....

The thing is there is a difference between a love story and romance. Now a Christian man can understand a love story because we know the greatest example of love there is. Love is not just emotions but a commitment Romance can be a casual thing, where emotions are the only thing driving a relationship. In movies (and I guess real life) romance can be between unmarried people, one married and other unmarried ect. Romance stories lead to unrealistic expectations in relationships.

Now I am not saying that romance has no place in mariage or dating, but IT CANNOT be the driving force for the relationship.

And a guys's algeries should only kick in when your watching the last five minutes of field of dreams
